Internships - PhD Students

Domestic Internships

Domestic Internships within the JUP Programme -  an internship involving a trip to a domestic institution. This is carried out in collaboration with an academic supervisor from the host institution, appointed by the intern, who is responsible for the academic organisation of the stay.

The purpose of these internships is to enable doctoral candidates to enhance their competencies in the following areas, in collaboration with the academic supervisor:

  • Teaching Skills: Including the application of modern teaching methods and pedagogy.
  • Digital Competencies: Enhancing capabilities in the use of digital tools and platforms.
  • Actions for green transformation: Promoting and engaging in activities supporting environmental sustainability.

Foreign Internships

Foreign Internship within the JUP Programme – a trip to a foreign host institution for an internship, i.e., an academic center ranked in the QS World University Rankings. The internship is conducted in collaboration with a foreign internship supervisor from the host institution, responsible for the substantive organization of the stay, and selected by the participant.

The aim of the internship is for PhD students, in cooperation with the supervisor, to enhance their competencies in the following areas:

  • Teaching competencies (including the use of modern teaching methods and didactics),
  • Digital competencies,
  • Actions for green transformation.

The goals of the foreign internship can be achieved through consultations with the host institution's staff, passive participation in educational activities related to the internship's objectives, or active involvement, such as conducting or co-conducting classes, exchanging experiences, establishing international cooperation in the above areas, or participating in additional activities proposed by the supervisor, such as workshops or summer schools within the mentioned fields.

 

[ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION]

Funding Covers:

  1. Travel Costs (airfare/bus/train tickets only);
  2. Travel Allowance;
  3. Daily Allowance (up to 14 days, based on applicable ministerial rates for the host country);
  4. Accommodation Allowance (up to 13 nights, based on applicable ministerial rates for the host country).

Visa fees and other costs are not covered under the Project.

Travel Arrangements:
As of July 1, 2023, Participants must independently book and purchase travel tickets (air, train, or bus) from any carrier. Tickets should only be purchased after the Foreign Travel Request Form has been approved.

Important: The 14-day internship period must not include public holidays or official non-working days in the host country, as these days are non-eligible costs and must be covered by the Participant.

[RECRUITMENT]

Detailed information on the recruitment process for foreign internships will be available before the recruitment period begins. Applications must be submitted through the Portal Rekrutacyjny ZintegrUJ (ZintegrUJ Recruitment Portal) under the "Recruitment" section.

 

[INTERNSHIP DURATION]

The internship at the Host Institution must last a minimum of 7 days and a maximum of 14 days, including travel time.

[RULES FOR IMPLEMENTING FOREIGN INTERNSHIPS]

Upon qualification, the Participant must submit the following documents to the Project Office at least 30 days before departure:

  • Declaration of Participation in the Foreign Internship (Appendix No. 2 to the Regulations).

After submitting the documentation to the Project Office, the Foreign Travel Request Form must be completed. According to Rector’s Order No. 33 of April 1, 2020, doctoral students must submit this form via the Portal Informacyjny UJ (PI UJ), while doctoral students from the Doctoral School of Medical and Health Sciences must submit it in paper form.

It is recommended to submit documents as early as possible (1–2 months before the trip) to allow for cost-effective ticket purchases.

Post-Internship Requirements:
Within 14 days after returning, the Participant must settle the trip with the Centre for International Cooperation JU (CIC JU) through Portal Informacyjny (PI UJ), submitting scans of:

  1. Hotel invoice;
  2. Travel tickets and boarding passes;
  3. Foreign Internship Report (Appendix No. 4);
  4. Original Foreign Internship Certificate signed by the Host Institution representative.

Original documents must be submitted to the Biuro Projektów Strategicznych Sekcja ZintegrUJ within 21 days after the internship.

[DEADLINES]

The recruitment process is ongoing and competitive (participants must score at least 40 out of 100 points to qualify and meet the formal requirements). It is open to individuals who have completed two training courses under the JUP programme.
